Dogs Play 'n' Train, LLC - Hailey

Barb Carpita has always loved working with animals. After several years of wishing she could train dogs and their owners as a way of life, she decided to start working toward her dreams.

She began by taking classes to become a Certified Dog Trainer and furthered her knowledge by working with a local trainer. Then she began to train a few dogs on the side while working as a dispatcher. Word of her training skills began circulating and soon she was too busy to do both jobs. With encouragement from family, friends and clients, she decided to train dogs full time.

Barb knew she needed some help to launch her business so she went to Bryan Matsuoka at the Idaho SBDC In Twin Falls. Bryan helped Barb build a business plan, develop financial projections, and encouraged her to go forward with her dream.

Barb started training dogs full time in Spring 2004. As word spread her business expanded even more. Local veterinarians and pet stores began recommending her to their customers and clients.  The local Invisible Fence dealer asked her to train for them as well.

Barb continually takes classes and finds new methods to use with her clients. Part of Barb's success is due to her dedication to professional development, and her ability to make the training fun for the dogs and the owners - hence the name of her business, Dogs Play 'n' Train, LLC.

Barb operates her business out of her truck, which allows her to bring her much sought after service directly to her clients. This also helps keep her overhead low and profits high. Barb's ability to work with people and their dogs regardless of problems, also adds to her success.

Barb does much of her training in picturesque Blaine County, which allows her to enjoy her job even more. After all, who wouldn't want to work in the beauty of the outdoors doing what they love?
