Barbara Leachman

Region Director


Barbara started as Director of the Idaho SBDC for Region II at Lewis-Clark State College in the summer of 2011. She has a Bachelor of Science in Agribusiness and a Masters in Business Education. Her work experience includes government lending and grants, bookkeeping, office management, program development, operations management, consulting, real estate development, and teaching.


She has experience in for-profit manufacturing and retailing, government programs, non-profit social services, and higher education. Barbara specializes in business planning, real estate, feasibility, raising capital, accounting, operations, human resources, and small business management.

Barbara grew up on a family fishing boat in Alaska.

Judy Schumacher

Business Consultant


Judy is the Business Consultant for the Region II Idaho Small Business Development Center. She holds a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration (BBA) with a finance emphasis from Boise State University. Judy worked in the banking industry for 10 years, specializing in commercial lending. She has experience in credit analysis, SBA lending, commercial real estate lending, and small business lending.


In addition to her banking background, Judy has experience in billing/bookkeeping for a medical office. Her strengths include financial analysis, knowledge of lending practices, and customer service skills.

Todd Broadman

Business Consultant


After graduating from Thunderbird's global management program, Todd held industrial marketing and project management posts in the data communications sector. He was principal in a software services provider startup and has consulted with both large and small firms. His focus is on identifying and building strategic competitive advantage - and has taught related courses at University of Idaho.


After working abroad in China, Hong Kong, and England, he found Moscow, Idaho in 2000 and considers it the best place in the world to raise his two children.

Desiree Cannon

Program Assistant


Desiree is the new program assistant for the Region II Idaho SBDC. She is a current student at Lewis-Clark State College pursuing a bachelor’s degree in business administration with a minor in marketing. She has experience in banking, administrative assistant positions, and has recently completed an internship with Idaho Falls Chukars Professional Baseball.


Desiree is organized, tactful, and goal driven. She is excited to help and watch others grow with success.
